Breakthroughs in Solving Problems

Solve problems you didn’t think there was a solution for

In an average of 16 hours, our Breakthrough Process will produce a plan that everyone agrees will produce the breakthrough results (solve the problem) and is feasible.

The Breakthrough Process takes a group “outside the box” of what they know (which is usually insufficient or even blocks problem solving) to “what they don’t know they don’t know”.

Using this process could help your organization:

  • Make a major reduction in the cost of a project or product
  • Achieve consensus on a decision where currently there is conflict
  • Figure out how to be more competitive
  • Solve a technical problem
Real client results: After months of struggling without success, a defense project team figured out how to meet the government’s budget by decreasing the cost of a $20M proposal by $5M (an ROI exceeding 80), and subsequently won the proposal.
Breakthroughs in Organizational Performance

Achieve sustainable growth and outperform the competition

To achieve a culture shift, organizations must have goals big enough to motivate the workforce to engage in the process. Starting from the future and working backwards enables the workforce to commit to the results they really want, and provides an inspiring context for producing breakthrough results. Lean Accelerated manages variation rather than hides it.

There are a large number of tools we can utilize depending on each client’s goals and situation:

  • Organizational Culture Transformation: alter the organization’s culture to support the organization’s strategic plan, without generating resistance to change.
  • Real Strategic Planning: Most organizational planning is limited to 3-5 years, too short a time to produce results that inspire the workforce. True strategic planning says how the organization will fulfill its vision, the contribution to the world for which it was created.
  • Team and Partnership Building: This reliably (often in a few days) creates a relationship of trust and collaboration between two groups/organizations.
  • Lean Accelerated: Produces a radical reduction in the codes of assembled products, without changing processes or machine layout.
  • Maximizing Enterprise Value: Typically the workforce is not aware of nor working on maximizing enterprise value. This tool produces alignment of actionin an organization to maximize enterprise value.
  • Conducting Effective Meetings: most meetings consume large amounts of resources without producing equivalent value. This tool results in meetings that people would never miss – meetings are shorter and produce more results.

Using these tools, your organization could:

  • Align the members of an organization (workforce, Board, stakeholders) so they enthusiastically support changes in the organization in response to a changed environment.
  • Increase revenue
  • Decrease operational budget deficits
  • Create a true project team where everyone holds themselves accountable for the project results
  • Create a true partnership between organizations
  • Dramatically reduce the cost of assembled products
  • Impel an organization in action to maximize enterprise value for a planned sale
  • Conduct meetings so good and effective that no one would miss one

Real client results: The culture of the Housing Authority of the County of San Clemente was characterized by frustration. People were working as hard as they could without apparent results and a perceived lack of collaboration between HACSB and other agencies, as well as between departments and individuals within the organization.

At their Strategic Planning Workshop, they created the difference the organization was committed to make and how it was going to do that. At this time, there were also a number of breakthrough goals established.

One goal that was created was around wait time. At a time when the wait time was eight years, they committed to a goal of a wait time not more than 10 days.

After six years of being guided by the strategic plan, results to date are a wait time decreased to a maximum of six years, the creation of another organization to serve other populations, and a workforce where collaboration is business as usual.

Breakthroughs in Individual Performance

Develop more effective, efficient employees who produce exception results

People’s actions are limited by their paradigms or assumptions that occur (unconsciously) to them as the obvious truth. We uncover the limiting assumptions, help them create new assumptions that are more supportive of their goals, and then coach them to be effective with their new perspective.

There are a large number of tools we can utilize depending on each client’s goals and situation:

  • Executive Training and Coaching: For many managers, the primary tools to have their organization perform are “carrots and sticks” (a combination of rewards and punishment to induce good behavior). Our training and coaching alters their perspective (transformation) and enables them to lead and manage powerfully.
  • Sales Training and Coaching: We offer an approach to sales that is ethical, enjoyable, creative, and leads to results.
  • Managing Multiple Generations: Too often, multiple generations in the workplace results in conflict. This program shows how the multiple generations can work effectively together using the unique perspectives of each.
  • Enrollment: Teaches how to get people to buy-in to your approach or idea.
  • Conflict Resolution: A reliable process for resolving a conflict between two people.
  • New Employee Orientation Program: Creating an onboarding program that quickly has new employees aligned with the organization’s culture and strategic plan.
  • Performance Appraisals: Create a performance appraisal process that both manager and worker enjoy and benefit from.

Using this process could help you:

  • Shift a manager from dysfunctional behavior (micro managing, using carrot and stick, and making people wrong publicly) to an effective manager that people enjoy working for.
  • Create much more effective leaders whose organizations buyinto the leader’s goals and results.
  • Develop more effective salespeople, as measured by an increased close ratio of sales and a decreased lead time.
  • Develop an entire organization that thinks and acts as sales/customer service people.
  • See multiple generations in the workplace collaboratively use their different perspectives to produce new results.
  • Resolve conflicts between individuals, typically within hours.
Real client results: A management consulting firm, despite having rates much lower than the market, was winning only 25% of the bids it made, and lead times from start to selection averaged nine months. We trained the entire sales force and went on sales calls with them; as a result, they now close 75% of their bids, while average lead time shrunk to three months.
